Low Stomach Acid Quiz

1 point for each

• Indigestion after meals

• Burping or belching after meals

• Digestion symptoms (bloating, diarrhea, constipation)

• Prior use of acid suppressing medication

• Stress rating great than 4/10

2 points for each

• Perceived difficulty digesting meat

• Protein deficiency symptoms despite adequate intake

• Feeling that food “sits in your stomach like a brick of lead” after eating

• Aged 50 or old

4 points for each

• Aged 60 or older

• Diagnosed with delayed gastric emptying or gastroparesis

• Current use of acid suppressing medication

4+ points: Low stomach acid is highly probable

2-3 points: Low stomach acid is a possibility

0-1 points: Low stomach acid is less likely
